Our owner, Stephanie Griffith Beard, had a childhood nickname that stuck with her for many years -- and in some circles, for a lifetime. She grew up in nearby Tyler, Texas, where former schoolmates knew her as "Snake."
But why in the world is she smiling?
Proverbs 31:25 says about the aspirational woman of excellence, "Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she smiles at the future."
Our vineyard will begin with four wine grape varietals that are Pierce's Disease (PD) resistant. Growing good wine grapes in this part of Texas ain't for sissies. These days, PD is a scourge to grape growers all over the United States, killing grapevines left and right, but it can be really bad around these parts. We hope cultivating these newer varietals results in producing fine estate wines that you (and we, of course) will enjoy for many years to come.
Our first grapevines being planted are: Reds - Paseante Noir and Errante Noir; Whites - Caminante Blanc and Ambulo Blanc. You can read about each of our new varietals by clicking HERE. They cost us a little more, but we hope they'll stand the test of time and that they'll make great wines.
Harvest will be in just about three years! (Not kidding.)
